Ingredients

  • 1 pound lean lamb
  • 1 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1 cup currants
  • 2 cup coarsely cut figs
  • 2 tablespoon butter
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • 1 cup dry lentils
  • 4 cup beef broth
  • 1 cup diced turnip with tops

Instructions

  1. Cut lamb into 1/2 inch pieces

  2. Salt and pepper the lamb well

  3. Brown the lamb in melted butter

  4. Add the cup of chicken broth and simmer for 45 minutes or until lamb is tender.

  5. Drain the liquid.

  6. Bring the lentils to a boil in the broth

  7. Then simmer for 15 minutes.

  8. Combine cinnamon, salt, basil and stir into diced turnip.

  9. Add turnip, currants and figs to the lentils and simmer for 10 minutes.

  10. Stir lamb into lentils and serve.
