Buttercream Icing

Ingredients

  • 1 kilo (9 c approx) icing sugar
  • 1/2 t salt
  • 1/2 c water
  • 1 t vanilla
  • 2 c shortening

Instructions

Mix 2 c icing sugar, 1/2 c shortening, salt, water, & vanilla until smooth, on low speed. Add remaining shortening & icing sugar Alternately, mix well and scrape down bowl after each addition. Mix for a final 3 to 5 mins on medium speed until desired consistency is reached. Makes enough icing to decorate a 9 x 12 cake.
