Lettuce Dish (gemusesalat) Germany

Ingredients

  • 4 slices bacon
  • 1 onion or 4 scallions, sliced
  • 1/4 cup cider vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 1/2 quarts shredded lettuce
  • 2 hard cooked eggs, sliced

Instructions

Saute bacon until crisp. Remove. Crumble. Reserve. Brown onion in bacon drippings. Add vinegar, sugar, salt and pepper. Bring to a boil. Pour over lettuce. toss. Garnish with crumbled bacon and sliced eggs.
