Bierocks

Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-bran cereal
  • 1 cup boiling water
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup shortening
  • 2 well beaten eggs
  • 6 cup flour (approximately)
  • 2 cakes or 2 packages of yeast dissolved in 1 cup lukewarm water
  • 2 pound hambuger
  • 1 large onion diced
  • 1/2 small head cabbage (shredded)
  • dash of salt
  • velveeta cheese to your taste

Instructions

Mix together cereal, water, salt, sugar, and shortening and let cool. Add eggs, flour and yeast. Mix as for all rolls, let rise, work or punch down, let rise again for 10 minutes or more. Combine hamburger, onion, cabbage, and salt and saute skillet pan for 20 minutes. Drain well. Put back on stove and melt velveeta cheese in the hamburger, onion and cabbage mix. To make rolls, pinch off a small piece of dough about the size of an extra large egg and flatten to about a 6 inch circle. Put 1 tablespoon filling in each roll. Fold dough over meat and seal. Place on a greased cookie sheet seam-side down. Let rise for 20 minutes. Bake in 375 oven about 20 minutes.
