Surf and Turf Dinner

This Surf and Turf Dinner recipe is a delicious alternative to going out to a restaurant. It's perfect for a fancy dinner that allows you to indulge but won't break the bank. There are not a lot of ingredients that go into this meal. Instead the delectable flavors of the tender steak and buttery lobster are allowed to stand on their own; they are enhanced with some simple seasoning and a bit of tangy lemon. Serve this dish when you have company, and you are sure to impress.

Ingredients

  • 4 ounce or larger lobster tail
  • 1/2 teaspoon minced garlic
  • lemon and lemon juice
  • 1/2 cup melted butter
  • 1 teaspoon Old Bay seasoning
  • 5 ounce steak, of choice

Instructions

  1. For Lobster: With kitchen scissors, cut lobster shells up the middle of the back to near the end of the tail, and with fingers gently spread shell, nudging meat from the inside, and lifting it out and up, leaving end attached, then letting meat rest on top of the shell.

  2. Fill a saucepan with 1-2 inches of water, add two Tablespoons lemon juice, minced garlic, and Old Bay. Set steamer pan on top, place lobsters in and cover.

  3. Bring water to a boil, turn down and steam for 7 minutes. Shells will turn bright red, and meat will no longer look translucent. Don't overcook, or lobster meat will become tough. Serve with melted butter mixed with lemon juice for dipping, and a lemon wedge.

  4. For Steak: Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

  5. Oil and season steak with salt and pepper or a steak rub. Fry 2 minutes on each side in a hot skillet, to sear.

  6. Put skillet in oven for 6 minutes for medium rare. Let rest 5 minutes before serving.
