Apple Pie Crescent Roll Ups

Combine the ease of a crescent roll recipe with the tart and sweet flavor of fresh fall apples, and what do you get? These amazing Apple Pie Crescents! Tart Granny Smith apples bake with butter, spices, and chopped walnuts inside a flaky outer shell made of crescent roll dough. Then to top it all off, we'll show you how to make a vanilla bean glaze that will melt your heart, as it melts all over the tops of these perfect little roll-ups.

This is a great easy dessert recipe to make this fall, or anytime you have fresh apples that you need to use up in a delicious way. Another great thing about this recipe is you can have it for breakfast! Just omit the glaze for a less sweet version of this awesome apple snack.

Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup light brown sugar
  • 1 1/4 teaspoon apple pie spice, divided
  • 3 tablespoon unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 medium Granny Smith apple, washed, cored and cut into 8 wedges
  • 1 (8-ounce) can refrigerated crescent rolls (Pillsbury Original)
  • 1/3 cup chopped walnuts
  • Vanilla Bean Glaze:
  • 1/2 cup confectioner's sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla bean paste or vanilla extract
  • 1-2 tablespoons heavy cream

Instructions

  1. Heat oven to 375 degrees F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
     

  2. In a small bowl mix the brown sugar with 1 teaspoon apple pie spice.
     

  3. In a medium bowl mix the melted butter with the apple wedges.
     

  4. Place the crescent roll triangles on the baking sheet and sprinkle each triangle with the brown sugar mixture.
     

  5. Sprinkle the triangles with the chopped walnuts.
     

  6. Place an apple wedge on the wide end of the triangle and wrap the dough around the apple.
     

  7. Brush some of the remaining butter on top of each crescent roll then sprinkle the remaining apple pie spice on top.
     

  8. Bake for 10-15 until golden brown.
     

  9. While the apple bites are cooling mix the glaze.
     

  10. In a small bowl mix the confectioners’ sugar with the vanilla and cream until you have a consistency to drizzle on top of each apple bite.
