Low and Slow Barbecued Beef

Set the slow cooker on low and let this Low and Slow Barbecued Beef cook away as you tend to other duties. This is a great recipe for barbecued beef sandwiches, complete with the signature smokey flavor.

Ingredients

  • 3 pound boneless chuck roast
  • 1 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 2 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup red wine vinegar
  • 2 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon liquid smoke flavoring
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder

Instructions

  1. Place chuck roast in slow cooker.
     
  2. Combine ketchup, mustard, brown sugar, red wine vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, liquid smoke flavoring, salt, pepper, and garlic powder in mixing bowl.  Stir until everything is combined.
     
  3. Pour sauce mixture over chuck roast. Cover and cook on low 8 to 10 hours or on high 4 to 5 hours.
     
  4. Remove chuck roast from slow cooker and shred meat. Place shredded meat back in slow cooker and stir to evenly coat with sauce.
     
  5. Spoon meat onto sandwich buns and top with additional barbecue sauce, if desired.
