Coca Cola Chuck Roast Barbecue

Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 pound boneless chuck roast
  • 2 onions, chopped
  • 12 ounce can Coca Cola
  • 1/3 cup Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 1/2 tablespoon apple cider vinegar or white vinegar
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon beef bouillon granules
  • 3/4 teaspoon dry mustard or regular mustard
  • 3/4 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon ground red pepper
  • 3 cloves garlic or garlic powder
  • 1 cup ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon butter or margarine
  • Buns

Instructions

  1. Place roast in 3 1/2-4-quart cup slow cooker.
     
  2. Add onion. Combine cola, Worcestershire sauce, vinegar or bouillon granules, mustard, chili powder, red pepper and garlic.
     
  3. Save 1 cup Sauce, cover and refrigerate. Pour remaining sauce over roast.
     
  4. Cover and cook high 6 hours, or low 9 hours. Shred meat with forks.
     
  5. Combine reserved sauce, ketchup and butter in saucepan; cook over med. heat stirring constantly, until heated through.
     
  6. Pour over shredded meat and onions or add it to the rest of the sauce that you cooked the beef in.
