Pear Crescent Cookies

Pear Crescent Cookies are beautiful cookies that recall the moonlit sky on a midwinter night. Tangy pear complements the sweetness of the sugar cookie dough, and they hold their shape for placement in cookie tins and gift boxes.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 8 ounce cream cheese, softened
  • 2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup diced peeled pears
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts
  • 3/4 cup confectioners' sugar
  • 2 tablespoon milk

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, cream butter and cream cheese together until smooth.

  2. Gradually add flour and salt until consistency is doughy.

  3. Cover and refrigerate for 2 hours or until easy to handle.

  4. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.

  5. Combine brown sugar and cinnamon. Set aside.

  6. Divide dough into fourths. On a floured surface, roll out each portion into a 12" circle. Cut into 12 wedges.

  7. Place about 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon-sugar at the wide end of each wedge.

  8. Top with about 1/2 teaspoon each pears and walnuts.

  9. Roll up, beginning at wide end.

  10. Place pointed side down 2" apart on ungreased baking sheets. Curve ends to form crescent.

  11. Bake 16-19 minutes or until lightly browned. Immediately remove to wire racks.

  12. Combine confectioners' sugar and milk. When cookies have cooled, drizzle confectioners' sugar mixture over cookies.
