Hungarian Nut Horn Cookies

Hungarian Nut Horn Cookies make wonderful additions to Christmas cookie tins because they hold their shape and they taste delicious. Nutty cookies like these are some of the best Christmas cookie recipes from around the world.

Ingredients

  • 2 sticks (1 cup) margarine or butter
  • 8 ounce cream cheese
  • 2 cup flour
  • 1 cup chopped walnuts
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 3 tablespoon milk

Instructions

  1. Mix softened butter and cream cheese together until smooth.
     
  2. Gradually add flour until the mixture reaches a doughy consistency.
     
  3. Wrap dough in plastic wrap and refrigerate at least 2 hours.
     
  4. For filling, combine walnuts, sugar and milk. Stir until consistency is even.
     
  5. When dough has been refrigerated 2 hours, preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
     
  6. Roll out cold dough and slice into squares.
     
  7. Spread filling across squares of dough and roll lengthwise to create a cigar shape, or roll diagonally for a crescent shape.
     
  8. Gently roll each piece in granulated sugar until lightly coated, then transfer to a cookie sheet.
     
  9. Curve ends inward for crescent shape if desired.
     
  10. Bake 8-12 minutes or until lightly browned.
