Spicy Chili Con Carne

Spicy Chili Con Carne is a hearty dish that works great with a side of cornbread. Add some shredded cheddar on top for more flavor! Basic chilli recipes are always loved by the family.

Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoon canola oil
  • 1 pound lean ground beef
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 3 cloves of garlic, chopped
  • 1 can (10-ounces) tomato soup
  • 1 can (14-ounces) diced tomatoes
  • 1 can (19-ounces) kidney beans
  • 1 can (19-ounces) chickpeas
  • 1 cup frozen corn
  • 1 can (4.5-ounces) green chilies
  • 2 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1 tablespoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes

Instructions

  1. Heat canola oil over medium to high heat in a heavy bottom pot.
     
  2. Add ground beef and thoroughly brown. Add onions and garlic. Saute until onions are clear.
     
  3. Add tomato soup, diced tomatoes, kidney beans and chickpeas. Heat over medium heat until it begins to simmer, stir often.
     
  4. Stir in remaining ingredients, reduce heat to low and simmer for 30 minutes. Serve.
