Ingredients

  • 1 pound box elbow macaroni, cooked according to package directions
  • 1 stick margarine or butter
  • 1 package shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • salt, to taste
  • pepper, to taste
  • 1 egg
  • 2 cup milk
  • 1 package Ritz crackers

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.
     
  2. In a 2-quart casserole dish, layer cooked macaroni with thin slices of butter and sprinkles of cheese, adding salt and pepper to each layer. You should be able to do about 3-4 layers.
     
  3. After the top layer of butter and cheese, beat egg in a 2-cup measuring cup, then add milk to make 2 cups. Beat together and pour over macaroni casserole.
     
  4. Crumble Ritz crackers or sprinkle breadcrumbs over the top of the casserols.
     
  5. Bake for 45 minutes.
