Turkey and Cabbage Roll Casserole

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground turkey (or beef)
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 1/2 cup diced celery (optional)
  • 1/4 cup diced green pepper (optional)
  • 2 tablespoon rolled oats
  • 1 tablespoon parsley flakes
  • salt to taste
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 2 to 3 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1/2 to 1 head of cabbage
  • 15 ounce cans of tomato sauce
  • 1/4 cup cider vinegar
  • Dash pepper

Instructions

  1. Cook beef, onions, celery, and green pepper until done and brown. Drain well.
     
  2. Sprinkle meat mixture with oats, parsley, salt, and garlic powder.
     
  3. Core cabbage and cut into small wedges. Place on meat.
     
  4. Combine tomato sauce, vinegar, pepper and brown sugar. Mix well. Pour over cabbage and meat.
     
  5. Cover and let simmer 20-30 minutes until the cabbage is done. Serve immediately.
