Halva

Ingredients

  • 1 pound sesame seeds, plain (not toasted)
  • 1 whole clove, broken up
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 2 cup sugar
  • 1/3 cup water

Instructions

Oriental Sesame Candy. Yield: 1-1/2 pounds. Grind the sesame seeds, clove and cinnamon to a paste in a processor. Prepare a syrup with the sugar and water. Simmer over low heat for about 10 minutes. It is ready when you can draw a thin, candied hair by touching the syrup with a fork. Pour this syrup into the sesame paste and process until smooth. Turn out into a heatproof glass tray or dish and press flat. Cool and cut into cubes.
