Cooking Time30 min

Ingredients

  • 2 butter cake mixes, plus ingredients on package
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 stick butter or margarine
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

  2. Bake the two cakes according to package instructions.

  3. Meanwhile, combine sugars, butter, milk, and vanilla and bring to a boil. Once it reaches a hard boil, time for 3 minutes.

  4. Remove from heat and allow to cool, stirring occasionally to prevent graining. (If your cakes are cool, you may use an electric mixer to speed this up).

  5. When cakes are done, layer them on top of each other. When icing is cool enough to be fairly stiff, ice cake.
