Blue Cheese Hamburgers

Ask anyone in my family - this recipe for blue cheese hamburgers is the best hamburger recipe around! They are moist and juicy, and the hidden blue cheese gives them incredible flavor. Try them today!

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 pound ground beef
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/3 cup crumbled blue cheese
  • 3 ounce cream cheese, softened
  • 1 tablespoon country-style Dijon mustard
  • 4 onion buns
  • 1 1/2 cup fresh mushrooms, sliced 1/4-inch thick
  • 2 medium onions, sliced 1/8-inch thick
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 4 slices ripe tomato

Instructions

  1. In medium bowl stir together ground beef, 1/4 teaspoon salt and 1/4 teaspoon pepper.  Form into 8 large 1/4" thick patties.
     
  2. In small bowl stir together blue cheese, cream cheese and mustard.
     
  3. Place about 2 tablespoons cheese mixture on top of each of 4 patties.
     
  4. Top each with remaining meat patty. Press around edges to seal.
     
  5. Place hamburgers in 10" skillet. Cook over medium heat, turning once, until desired doneness (12 to 15 minutes for medium).
     
  6. Place hamburgers on buns.
     
  7. In same skillet with drippings place mushrooms and onions, add 1/4 teaspoon salt, 1/4 teaspoon pepper and Worcestershire sauce.
     
  8. Cook over medium high heat, stirring occasionally, until tender (4 to 5 minutes).
     
  9. Meanwhile, place tomato slice on each hamburger, top with grilled mushrooms and onions.
