Amish Country's Best Corn Fritters

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cup sifted flour
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 can (16 oz) cream style corn
  • 1 egg, slightly beaten
  • 1 cup corn oil
  • powdered sugar

Instructions

  1. Sift together dry ingredients.
     
  2. Mix together corn and egg. Add dry ingredients to the egg mixture. Stir slowly.
     
  3. Heat oil in large skillet over medium heat. Drop batter by tablespoonfuls into hot oil, one layer at a time.
     
  4. Fry about 2 minutes on each side until golden brown.
     
  5. Drain on absorbent paper, and dust with powdered sugar, if desired.
