Blizzard Bites in a Jar

Crunchy and sweet, these Blizzard Bites in a Jar is a great no-bake snack mix for the hoilday season. It's a quick and easy (and affordable) gift to give to anyone around the holiday season, such as coworkers, teachers, hair stylists, and more. Your part is easy: simply gather and stack the ingredients in a jar. The baking that's required of the recipient is minimal and this treat will certainly be enjoyed by all. The sweet and salty snack is great for an afternoon treat, or a midnight snack!

  • 1 cup rice squares cereal (Rice Chex, or similar)
  • 1 cup pretzel twists, small
  • 1/2 cup dry-roasted peanuts
  • 1/3 cup sweetened dried cranberries
  • 1/3 cup dried pineapple, coarsely chopped
  • 1 cup white chocolate chips
  • 1 canning jar, quart-size with lid and ring
  • 1 food storage bag, small (optional)
  1. Layer cereal, pretzels, peanuts, cranberries and dried pineapple in a quart-sized Mason jar.
  2. Place white chocolate chips on top of the layered ingredients. (Hint: place them inside of a food storage bag beforehand)
  3. Seal jar, and attach a gift tag with recipe instructions (see below).

To prepare:

  1. Remove white chocolate chips from jar. Empty remaining jar contents into a large mixing bowl, and mix thoroughly.
  2. Place white chocolate chips into a microwave-safe bowl. Melt white chocolate chips in the microwave for 45 seconds. Remove and stir until melted. If additional time is needed, check at 15 second intervals.
  3. Pour melted white chocolate chips over snack mixture. Stir until snack mixture is evenly coated. Spread mixture in a single layer over waxed paper, and allow to cool completely.
  4. Break mix into smaller pieces, and store in zipper food storage bags or an air-tight storage container.  Makes 3 1/2 cups snack mix.
