Welsh Rarebit

Ingredients
  • 2 tsps butter
  • 1 tsp cornstarch or flour
  • salt and cayenne pepper
  • 1/8 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/3 cup coarsely grated old cheddar
  • 1/2 cup milk or beer
Instructions

Melt butter, add cornstarch and stir until it bubbles; add milk or beer gradually; cook a minute or so and add the cheese; stir until cheese melts it is creamy. Serve at once on a piece of thin buttered toast.
