Spoon Burgers

Ingredients
  • 1 pound lean ground beef
  • 1/2 cup chopped green pepper
  • 1/2 cup chopped onion, or to taste
  • 1 can tomato sauce (8 ounces)
  • 1 Tbl brown mustard or Dijon-style mustard
  • 2 tsps Worcestershire sauce
  • 3 hamburger buns
Instructions

Break the ground meat into large pieces while adding it to a medium skillet over high heat. Add the green pepper and onion. Cook over high heat until the meat is browned and the green pepper and onion are tender. Drain off the fat. Stir in the tomato sauce, mustard, and Worcestershire sauce. Bring the mixture just to boiling; reduce the heat. Simmer, uncovered, for about 5 minutes or until the mixture is heated through and the flavors are well blended, stirring occasionally. While the meat is cooking, split the hamburger buns and toast them under the broiler. Divide the meat mixture evenly among the toasted bun halves to make open-face sandwiches. Spoon the meat over each half hamburger bun and eat with a spoon.
