Pickled Figs

Ingredients
  • 3 qt. fresh figs
  • 6 cups sugar
  • 1 cup white vinegar
  • 1 cup water
  • 2 Tbsp. cinnamon stick (4)
  • 2 Tbsp. whole cloves
Instructions

Put figs in cooking bowl and pour over the 6 cups sugar, 1 cup white vinegar, 1 cup water and the cinnamon and cloves. Bring to a boil and boil for 10 minutes, uncovered. Cover and let stand overnight. Bring the figs to a boil for another 10 minutes, uncovered. Recover and let stand overnight. On the third day, uncover, bring to a boil for 10 minutes and put in jars. Suggestion: Put into seal-a-meal bags. They stay fine. No refrigeration is needed.
