Homemade Jellied Canned Cranberry Sauce

How do you get jellied cranberry sauce without buying the can? Make it yourself! Homemade cranberry sauce always taste so much better than anything you can buy in the store, and it's really not hard to make. Try it!

Ingredients
  • 1 1/4 cup cranberries
  • 1 3/4 cup water
  • 2 cups sugar
Instructions
  1. Wash cranberries; drain.
     
  2. Combine cranberries and water in a large sauce pot.
     
  3. Boil until skins burst, about 10 minutes.
     
  4. Press mixture through a sieve or food mill.
     
  5. Add sugar to cranberry pulp and juice.
     
  6. Boil mixture again, almost to jelling point.
     
  7. Ladle hot sauce into hot jars leaving 1/4 inch headspace.
     
  8. Adjust two piece caps and process 10 minutes in a boiling water canner. Yields about 2 pints.


Variation
:

Stick cinnamon or whole cloves tied in a spice bag may be cooked with the sauce to give a spicy flavor. Remove spice bag before canning sauce.

Notes

To serve jellied sauce as a mold, pack sauce in wide mouth canning jars for easy removal.

Very easy to make and make its a keeper

I'm so glad that this recipe is here. I am a diabetic and have always missed jellied cranberry sauce. I will be using splenda instead of sugar and won't miss out this year. thank you very much. Regina
