Fig Syrup

Ingredients
  • 10 figs
  • 1 C port
Instructions

Slice figs in half and cover with port. Bake in an uncovered dish (325 degrees) for 1 1/2 hours. Figs will become very soft. Put the finished product through a tami (sp?) or fine meshed strainer to extract juices from figs. Comes out wonderful. Great for desserts or drizzled over cheese. You can substitute balsamic vinegar for port. Makes great glaze for meat dishes.
