Southern Pork Chops & Rice Bake

There's something about baked pork chop recipes that make them lip smacking good. A favorite in the household that always brings the family rushing to the dinner table, Southern Pork Chops Rice Bake has the juicy flavor of baked pork chops and then some. Baked over a bed of rice, not a single ingredients' flavor is missed in this hearty casserole recipe.

Ingredients

  • 4 bone-in pork chops
  • salt and pepper, to taste
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 2 cans (10.5-ounces) French Onion Soup
  • 1 cup uncooked long-grain rice
  • garlic powder, onion powder, to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.

  2. Season pork chops liberally with salt and pepper. I used a little bit of onion powder and garlic powder too.

  3. Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat and brown pork chops on each side. Just a sear, they do not have to be cooked through.

  4. Add soup and rice to a 13x9 baking dish and stir to combine.  Arrange browned pork chops on top of rice in a single layer. Cover dish tightly with aluminum foil and bake at 375 degrees F for one hour.
