Triple Cheesy Baked Ziti

This handmade pasta recipe is exactly like your macaroni and cheese excepts it uses Ziti! Made with American Cheddar and Parmesan cheese, it ads a little Italian flare to your classic American dish. It's just as good, I promise.

Cooking Time: 40 min

Ingredients
  • 16 ounces Ziti pasta, cooked
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 2 tablespoons instant chicken boullion
  • 3 tablespoons flour
  • 6 cups milk
  • 8 ounces Cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 8 ounces American cheese, shredded
  • 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese, grated
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs, optional
Instructions
  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
     
  2. In a large saucepan, melt butter, add onion, saute until tender.
     
  3. Add instant boullion, stir until dissolved. Stir in flour to make a roux. Cook for 1 to 2 minutes until browned.
     
  4. Slowly whisk in milk, until no lumps are apparent. Add all 3 cheeses (grated), stir over low heat until completely melted.
     
  5. Put cooked pasta into a 2 quart casserole dish and pour sauce over. Sprinkle with bread crumbs (and additional Parmesan cheese if desired).
     
  6. Bake 30 to 40 minutes, or until brown and bubbly.
