It's also easy to customize to your family's particular tastes.

Serves: 5 (about 1 cup each)

Preparation Time: 5 min

  • 1 1/2 cup water
  • 2 cups uncooked medium shell-shaped pasta

I found this quite bland when following the recipe I adjusted. I always double recipes like this because my guys are healthy eaters and I rarely measure. So...first I followed the recipe exactly except for adding more shells and meat. Bland. I added in some of our favorite seasonings along with salt and pepper. Better. Then I noticed it was a brown color, not the creamy orange expected. So, I added in another can of cheddar soup...not tomato...I left that at one can. It still wasn't quite right so I tossed in about 1/2 - 3/4 cup marble cheese...the real stuff, not processed. That did it! When I served dinner, my guys were amazed that it tasted "just like hamburger helper"...which I assume was the goal of the recipe. There was just enough leftover for a small lunch serving tomorrow. I assumed I'd get another full dinner but they couldn't get enough. I'll be making this again because they just love it!
