Macaroni and Cheese

Ingredients
  • 2 tablespoons of butter for a thin sauce, 4 for a thick sauce
  • 2 tablespoons flour (1 for thin, 4 for thick)
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • a few grains of pepper
  • 1/4 pound (250 grams) macaroni
  • 1 to 2 cups grated cheddar cheese
  • 2 cups white sauce
  • 1/2 cup buttered bread crumbs
Instructions

Melt the butter in a hot saucepan, add the flour and stir to cook the flour about 1 and 1/2 minutes. Add the milk and seasonings slowly and keep stirring. When everything is smooth, bring to a boil for two minutes, then cook for 15 minutes to cook the flour Taste for seasoning and add more milk if too thick. Cook and drain the macaroni. Arrange 1/2 of it in a buttered baking dish. Sprinkle with 1/2 of the cheese repeat. pour over the white sauce. Sprinkle with bread crumbs. Bake at 400F until browned.
