Ostriche All'italiana (baked Oysters)

Ostriche All'Italiana (Baked Oysters) are one of our delicious easy Italian recipes. Try it for dinner tonight and it will immediately become one of your favorite everyday Italian recipes.

Cooking Time: 18 min

Ingredients
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 teaspoon garlic, finely chopped
  • 2 tablespoons parsley, finely chopped
  • 3 tablespoons parmesan cheese, grated
  • 2 tablespoons butter, cut in pieces
  • 1 cup fresh bread crumbs, (3 slice Italian bread)
  • 24 fresh oysters, shucked
Instructions
  1. Preheat oven to 450 degrees F.
     
  2. In a heavy skillet, melt butter over moderate heat.
     
  3. When foam subsides, add bread crumbs and garlic.
     
  4. Toss 2-3 minutes until crisp and golden.
     
  5. Stir in parsley and grated cheese.
     
  6. Put oysters in shallow pan large enough to hold a single layer.
     
  7. Sprinkle crumbs on oysters.
     
  8. Dot the top with tiny bits of butter.
     
  9. Bake oysters in top third of oven at 450 degrees F for 12-15 minutes until the crumbs are golden.
     
  10. Juices in the dish should be bubbling.
     
  11. Serve at once as an antipasto or first course.
