Dairy-Free Chocolate Frosting
Dairy-Free Chocolate Frosting

"Dairy-Free Chocolate Frosting recipe made healthier. It is lower-sugar, all-natural, vegan, and gluten-free! Made with 6 basic ingredients it’s so easy, the perfect vegan chocolate frosting. Growing up, chocolate frosting was almost a non-existent frosting option in my family. We had our traditional vanilla buttercream with just a tad of almond extract and that was the standard. It was the cream of the crop and the bee’s knees. We would scoop our fingers into the bowl and run as our mother screamed at us to stop eating it. We would fight over who got to lick the beater clean, and that was a serious fight, my friends. Yes, that vanilla buttercream frosting was the steady in our household and still is to-date. One thing though: Chocolate always wins."

I have never had any issues with dairy in my life and as far as I am aware, none of my family members suffer when they consume dairy. However, dairy has its health benefits but like all food items it is important to watch what you eat including dairy. What a wonderful recipe to keep on hand for those that need diary free options.

I need a reason to have to bake a cake just so that I can try out this frosting. The ingredients list show that it is a healthy version of a yummy favorite. Just thought about it, there is a birthday the first week of December. So perfect!

This is just a regular chocolate frosting that tells you what to substitute if you want to make it vegan. The addition of potato starch confuses me. I use more butter in my frosting and roughly the same amount of powdered sugar and have never needed to add anything to thicken it. The frosting looks great, but I would not add potato starch unless I absolutely needed the frosting thicker. I would add more cocoa powder instead.
