It's easy to just make the usual Jello dessert recipe, but there is so much more you can do with this versatile ingredient! Jello dessert recipes are great for anything from puddings to pies to jams. Be creative! There are so many flavors and endless possibilities with this one ingredient.

Not only are Jello dessert recipes easy to make, but it also is a way to cut fat and calories in your usually rich and dense desserts. The fruity flavor complements fat-free whipped toppings, crumbly pie crusts and crunchy fruits. Plus, Jello does have some actual health benefits. Gelatin is known to have proteins that increase hair and nail strength. Studies have shown that gelatin can also relieve joint pain, improve mobility and  bone and cartilage health overall. The History of Jello

Have you been wondering, who invented Jello? It isn't surprising that this is an uncommon fact, because this tasty dessert has been around for a LONG time. Gelatin desserts became popular in the Victorian Era, and the powder was first patented by industrialist Peter Cooper in 1845. Eventually, the patent was sold in 1899 to Orator Francis Woodward for $450! What a deal!

Over the years, more and more products developed, from unique flavors, to puddings to sugar-free products. The slogan "There's always room for Jell-O" emerged because of the lightness of the dessert. Through celebrity endorsements like Bill Cosby and the 150 products and counting that are offered, the Jell-O brand has become a widely famous household name. The Kraft "Jell-O" brand is most famous and has the widest variety of gelatin products, although Royal Gelatin is also a large manufacturer.
