Summer Slaw

Summer Slaw is a creative change to the average cabbage coleslaw recipe. Make this dish ahead of time and bring to a summer party or event. Guests will love this summertime slaw.

Ingredients
  • 1 large head of cabbage, or 1 bag of pre-cut coleslaw
  • 2 white onions
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 teaspoons sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon dry mustard
  • 3/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 teaspoon celery seed
  • 1 cup vinegar
Instructions
  1. Mix in a large bowl, the cabbage, onions, and 1 cup sugar.
     
  2. Bring to a boil the 2 teaspoons of sugar, salt, mustard, oil, celery seed, and vinegar.
     
  3. Pour boiling mixture over the cabbage/onion mixture; do not stir for 4 hours. Refrigerate.
     
  4. Add green, red, or yellow peppers and pimento for color. Stir before serving.
