Barbecue Beef Sandwiches

Slow cooker recipes make meat super tender and flavorful. The beef in these barbecued beef sandwiches is delectable thanks to long hours spent soaking in the flavors of onion, Worcestershire sauce, and brown sugar.

Ingredients

  • 3 pounds chuck roast
  • 1 cup water
  • 2 beef bouillon cubes
  • 1 tablespoon onion, minced
  • 1 can (15-ounce) tomato sauce
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup ketchup
  • 1/4 cup mustard
  • dash Worcestershire sauce

Instructions

  1. Roast meat with 1 cup water and bouillon cubes until very tender OR cook on low in the slow cooker 8 to 10 hours, until tender.
     
  2. Shred meat with a fork after cooking and retain 1 cup of the juice from cooking.
     
  3. Add cooking juices, onion, tomato sauce, brown sugar, ketchup, mustard, and Worcestershire sauce to shredded meat.
     
  4. Put meat in a slow cooker and cook on low heat 3 to 4 hours (or on high 1 1/2 to 2 hrs).
     
  5. Serve on hamburger buns or dinner rolls.
