(2 Votes)

A wonderful chewy and incredible recipe for cookies, Bible Study Cookies are great when you want a sweet snack with a cold glass of milk. With chopped walnuts for a nutty flavor, they are also made with cornflakes to give them an extra crunch that is absolutely fabulous. Treat yourself to this rich cookie and share it with your friends.

Ingredients
  • 1 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup cornflakes cereal
  • 1 cup rolled oats
  • 1 cup chopped walnuts
  • 1 cup unsweetened flaked coconut
Instructions
  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.

  2. Beat butter and sugars until fluffy. Slowly add oil and beat until oil is well incorporated. Add egg and vanilla, beat to mix.

  3. In a small bowl, combine flour, soda and salt. Add to butter mixture and stir just until mixed.

  4. Combine corn flakes, oatmeal, nuts and coconut and add to cookie mixture; mix just until combined.

  5. Use a cookie scoop to produce consistently sized cookies, but you can drop by rounded teaspoonfuls onto an ungreased cookie sheet, if you don't have a scoop.

  6. Bake at 375 degrees F  for 12 minutes or until lightly browned. Makes about 5 dozen.

I think we need a Bible study lesson to go with this recipe. :)

Sounds good but I'll pass on the religious stuff.

Terribly curious as to why they are called "Bible Study" cookies???

My guess is that "Ma" threw together what she had on hand when one of her kids came home and said they needed cookies that night for bible study. Everyone at Bible Study wanted them again so hence the term. I could be wrong though.
