Forgotten Molasses Cookies

A timeless cookie recipe that should have never been forgotten, these delightful sweet molasses cookies are a blast from the past. Mixed with cinnamon and sugar, they are baked golden brown for a chewy, sugary delight. Dust off the recipe card, and make them for your family tonight.

Ingredients

  • 6 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon ginger
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup lard
  • 2 cups brown sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 cup dark molasses
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 1/2 cup hot water

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.
     
  2. Combine first 4 ingredients and mix well cream together lard and brown sugar.
     
  3. Add eggs 1 at a time beating well after each addition.
     
  4. Stir in molasses. Stir in the first 4 ingredients and then add the combined soda and water. Mix thoroughly.
     
  5. Drop by heaping teaspoonfuls onto greased baking sheets and sprinkle with granulated sugar.
     
  6. Bake for 8-10 min. Makes about 8 dozen.

Good Morning All, Is it just me or is everyone having problems printing out recipes.

Salt is mentioned in the ingredients but never mentioned again in the directions.. I am assuming that it is to be added with the first 4 ingredients...A tsp. of salt is a good amount to add if not needed....Thank you
