Ingredients

  • 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
  • 1 1/2 cup Bisquick baking mix
  • 1/2 cup chopped nuts, if desired
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 egg
  • 1 1/2 cup hot water
  • 2/3 cup sugar

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
     
  2. Heat 1/3 cup chocolate chips over low heat until melted.
     
  3. Mix melted chocolate, baking mix, nuts, 1/3 cup sugar, milk, oil, vanilla and egg in square 9 x 9 x 2 inch pan. Beat vigorously with fork until well blended.
     
  4. Heat water and 2/3 cup sugar to boiling, stirring occasionally; stir in remaining chocolate chips until melted. Pour over mixture in pan.
     
  5. Bake until wooden pick inserted in center of cake comes out clean, about 35 to 40 minutes.
