Cheesy Chicken and Noodle Casserole

This Cheesy Chicken and Noodle Casserole is a traditional casserole that will win you over with its creamy sauce and cheesy top. For some extra flavor, layer fresh mushrooms or broccoli into the casserole.

Serves: 4

Preparation Time: 15 min

Cooking Time: 40 min

Ingredients
  • 1/2 pound noodles
  • 1 cup grated Swiss cheese
  • 1/8 teaspoon pepper
  • 3 cups cooked chicken
  • 1/4 cup Parmesan cheese
  • 6 tablespoons butter
  • 6 tablespoons flour
  • 2 cups chicken broth (bouillon)
  • 1 cup heavy cream
Instructions
  1. Cook noodles according to package directions and drain.
     
  2. Season with pepper, Parmesan cheese and 1/2 cup Swiss cheese. 
     
  3. While the noodles are cooking, dice the chicken into 1/2 inch pieces and preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
     
  4. Place noodles in greased 3 quart casserole and top with chicken.
     
  5. Melt butter, add flour and cook 2 minutes.
  6. Add broth and cream and cook until thick and smooth.
     
  7. Pour this sauce over the noodles and chicken and sprinkle with remaining Swiss cheese.
     
  8. Bake for 30 minutes.
