Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 1 1/2 pound ground turkey
  • parsley, chopped
  • 3 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1/2 cup rice
  • 3 pounds cabbage, chopped
  • 2 cans (8 oz.) tomato sauce
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/2 cup white wine

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
     
  2. In a small saucepan cook rice until firm, about 10 minutes. Drain and set aside.
     
  3. Lightly oil a 9 X 13-inch baking pan.
     
  4. In a large skillet, over medium heat, saute onion until translucent.
     
  5. Add ground turkey, parsley, Worcestershire sauce, salt and pepper and saute until meat looses its pink color.
     
  6. Add rice and stir well to mix.
     
  7. In a small bowl combine tomato sauce, water and wine.
     
  8. Place half the cabbage in the bottom of the prepared baking pan, cover with meat mixture, then half the tomato sauce.
     
  9. Cover with remaining cabbage then pour in remaining tomato sauce.
     
  10. Cover and bake for 1 1/2 hours.

I make this meal as a "lazy lasagne". Layer shredded cabbage as you would for lasagne, mix rice with meat (raw) and spread like you would if you if using ricotta, then....repeat layers!! This is simply scrumptious!! Put in oven @ 350 for hour and half!
