(1 Votes)

Making fudge from scratch isn't as difficult as it sounds. Just follow along with this easy fudge recipe and before you know it you'll have a batch of Old Time Fudge to enjoy with your family. This is a classic, old-fashioned recipe, so you know it has to be good! You'll never need or want to buy fudge from a store again once you sample this delicious homemade fudge.

Serves: 8

  • 3 cups sugar
  • 1 cup whipping cream
  • 3 ounces chocolate, unsweetened
  • dash of salt
  • 2 teaspoons corn syrup
  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
  • 3/4 cup pecans
  1. Butter sides of a 3-quart pan.
  2. Combine sugar, cream, chocolate, salt and corn syrup in a pot. Heat over medium heat. Stir constantly until the sugar dissolves, the chocolate melts and mix comes to boiling.
  3. Cook to soft-ball stage (about 234 degrees F). Stir only if necessary. Immediately remove from the heat.
  4. Add the butter and cool to lukewarm (110 degrees F) without stirring.
  5. Add vanilla and pecans and beat until thick. Spread in a buttered shallow pan. Allow to cool completely before cutting.
