Sweet Nothings Coffee Cake

Layers of cinnamon are what make this Sweet Nothings Coffee Cake stand apart from all of those other easy coffee cake recipes out there. The deliciously luscious batter is mixed intermittently with layers of cinnamon and chopped nuts for a crunchy sweet surprise baked right inside the coffee cake. If you're looking to amp up your coffee cake making, try this unique recipe. It's a surefire winner!

Cooking Time: 1 hr 10 min

  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla
  • 4 eggs
  • 3 cups flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups sour cream
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 2 tablespoons cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup walnuts, chopped
  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
  2. Cream butter and 2 cups sugar; add vanilla.
  3. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.
  4. Combine flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt. Add alternately with sour cream, beating well after each addition to keep batter smooth.
  5. Spoon 1/3 of batter into greased tube pan.
  6. Combine 3/4 cup sugar, cinnamon and nuts; sprinkle 1/3 over batter and repeat twice.
  7. Bake for 70 minutes or until cake tests done.
  8. Cool for 10 minutes and then remove from pan to cool completely.
