Louisiana Ring Cake

There never needs to be a special occasion to enjoy delicious cake recipes. Our recipe for Louisiana Ring Cake is incredibly moist and full of flavor. A great way to end the night, have a piece of cake and be taken to a place of pure bliss. Treat you and your family and enjoy slice after slice.

Ingredients
  • 3/4 cup butter or oleo
  • 3 tablespoons tbsp brown sugar
  • 2 flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon orange extract or zest
  • 2 3/4 cups flour
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup shortening, solid
  • 1 teaspoon orange extract or zest
  • 3 eggs, beaten
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 3/4 cup sugar
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 1/4 teaspoon almond extract
Instructions
  1. Preheat oven to 370 degrees F.
     
  2. Mix all ingredients for topping together, blending well. Spread in bottom of well greased tube pan.
     
  3. Sift together flour, baking powder, and salt; add sugar. Mix well.
     
  4. Cut in shortening; add milk, extracts, and eggs. Beat thoroughly.
     
  5. Pour batter over topping and bake in 370 degree F oven for 45 minutes to 1 hour.
     
  6. Remove from pan immediately or topping will stick to pan.
