This recipe has been dubbed the best chocolate sheet cake ever, and very few people will probably argue that. Texas Sheet Cake is everything you want when that chocolate craving hits - it's chocolate on top of chocolate. A soft, rich sheet cake is topped with gooey chocolate frosting to make the perfect dessert. You can even add chopped pecans before frosting if you so choose. Frost it while it's warm and it will melt in your mouth.

I've been thinking about Texas sheet cake recently as I remember my aunt making it quite a bit when we were younger. I recall there being nuts of some sort on the top. I think they were peanuts but this recipe mentions optional pecans. Does anyone know what a traditional Texas sheet cake has on the top? Which nuts have you tried and liked?
