Hungry Man Calico Beans

Need a filling meal that goes a long way for little cost, try the Hungry Man Calico Beans. Using an array of different beans, meats and flavors, this is more than just a simple bean recipe.

Cooking Time: 1 hr

  • 1 can pork and beans (large)
  • 1 can kidney beans (large)
  • 1 can butter beans
  • 1/2 pound bacon, cut up
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 med. onion (chopped)
  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons vinegar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  1. Drain kidney and butter beans, saving the liquid.
  2. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
  3. In skillet, brown bacon, ground beef and onions.
  4. Place all beans combined in a 9 x 13 x 2 inch pan. Add browned ingredients.
  5. Combine brown sugar, ketchup, vinegar and salt in a separate bowl. Pour over ingredients in pan.
  6. If too dry, add some of reserved liquid.
  7. Bake at 350 degrees F for 1 hour.
