Amish Cabbage Hot Pot


One pot recipes are great when you want to have a big meal without all of the clean up. Amish Cabbage Hot Pot is a budget friendly recipe that is easy to make and even easier to enjoy. Made with cabbage, potatoes, and carrots, it is a not only a tasty meal, but also a healthy one. Treat your family to this classic Amish recipe for dinner and add in some of your favorite vegetables to make it the way you like.

  • 1 pound cooked chicken
  • 8 cups shredded cabbage
  • 4 potatoes cut into 1/2" slices
  • 4 carrots, sliced
  • 2/3 cup chicken bouillon
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  1. Put all ingredients in a Dutch oven. Cover and cook 1 hour on low heat on stove or in 350 degrees F oven.
  2. Uncover and cook 40 minutes more or until potatoes and carrots are tender.

I use at least 2 heads of cabbage a week....I haven't tried thism but I can see it might be bland! Use FRESH chicken for flavor, add a few tomatoes and garlic........then let me know!! Cabbage is a gr8 weight loss veggie, and there are so many recipes, like "lazy Pig's n blankets",,,,,,,,,,,,for this very versatile and cheap food!!

It was okay, not wonderful, but filling. I enjoyed it because it used the cabbage and chicken I needed to use.
