Classic Blondies

Ingredients
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, at room temperature
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 2/3 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup chopped walnuts or pecans
Instructions

Preheat oven to 350; grease a 9x9 inch baking pan. In a small bowl, stir or whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. In a large bowl, cream the butter, sugar, and brown sugar. Add the eggs and vanilla and beat well. Gradually add the flour mixture, blending well after each addition. Stir in chopped nuts. Spread the batter evenly in the prepared pan. Bake for 30-35 minutes, until a toothpick inserted in the center of the pan comes out almost clean. Let the pan cool completely on a wire rack. Run a sharp knife around the edge of the pan, then cut into 16 squares (4 squares by 4 squares).
