Poor Man Breakfast Pizza

If I could, I would have pizza for every meal of the day. With Poor Man Breakfast Pizza I'm able to enjoy and live out my pizza dreams on a budget. Made with breakfast sausage, eggs, cheese and hash-browns this crescent roll recipe is mind blowing.

Serves: 8

Cooking Time: 30 min

Ingredients
  • 1 pound sausage, browned
  • 1 package crescent rolls (refrigerated dough)
  • 5 eggs, or equivalent substitute
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 12 ounces frozen hash browns, thawed
  • 1 cup Cheddar cheese, shredded
Instructions
  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.

  2. Unroll crescent rolls and press into 9x13 inch pan.

  3. Spoon sausage over crust. Sprinkle hash browns, sprinkle cheese over hash browns. Beat together eggs and milk, pour over top.

  4. Bake for 25-30 minutes, until bottom crust is browned and center set. Serve with salsa.

I thought these were supposed to be inexpensive recipes? Apparently, poor man means different things to different people. NONE of these ingredients are cheap! Especially not the sausage, milk, cheese, and rolls. And 5 eggs are a lot for one recipe if you are trying to conserve money.

Unless a Pizza recipe has tomato sauce of some sort, It should NOT have the word Pizza attached to it. This recipe is Yuck!

Chef 18678, thank you for your input and we will keep it in mind for naming recipes in the future. Ingredients like hash browns and sausage are relatively inexpensive. You can adapt the recipe to make it lower in fat with low fat cheese and turkey or chicken sausage. Hope this helps!

I'm sorry, I wouldn't call this a poor mans recipe. Processed potatoes and crescent roll dough is not cheap. The recipe itself is not bad, but very heavy with fat.
