World's Easiest Hungarian Goulash

When it comes to goulash recipes, you don't want anything too complicated. Goulash is one of those dishes to make when you're feeling lazy and just want something comforting, which is why this recipe for the World's Easiest Hungarian Goulash is perfect. With minimal steps and prep work, this recipe for goulash is one of the simplest we've seen. You'll love the taste of the finished product and you're sure to appreciate how easy this dish is to throw together... even at the last minute.

Cooking Time: 40 min

Ingredients
  • 1/4 pound lean ground beef
  • 1/2 cup onions
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 2 tablespoons canola oil
  • 1/4 cup canned whole tomatoes, smashed
  • 1/4 cup ketchup
  • 2 teaspoons prepared mustard (or 1 tsp. dry mustard)
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon vinegar
  • 2 teaspoons brown sugar
  • salt and pepper, to taste
  • hot sauce, to taste
  • 1 cup pasta
Instructions
  1. Brown beef until it is cooked through.
     
  2. While cooking the beef, cook the onions and garlic in the oil until they are almost brown.
     
  3. When the beef and onion-garlic mixture are both cooked through, add together and saute for a minute or so.
     
  4. Add the tomatoes, ketchup, mustard, paprika, Worcestershire sauce, vinegar and brown sugar.
     
  5. Cover and simmer for 30 - 40 minutes.
     
  6. While beef mixture is simmering, boil and drain a cup of pasta.
     
  7. Once the pasta is finished and the beef has simmered, add the pasta to the beef. Add salt and pepper to taste. Add hot sauce and stir before serving.

If you are looking for Sloppy Joes served over pasta, this is a 4 or 5 star recipe. If you are looking for Hungarian Goulash, this is not the recipe for you. This is not Hungarian Goulash! There is nothing Hungarian about it. But serve this recipe over toasted buns and you have a tasty and quick meal.

If you are serving this on buns, don't add the pasta; just serve the meat mixture. Quite tasty.
