Tempt yourself with a family favorite. Mixed with fresh garlic, onions and parsley this Savory Salisbury steak will replace your homemade salisbury steak recipe. Make extra sauce to coat the patties and mashed potatoes. That's the best part!

Ingredients

  • 2 pounds ground beef (or ground sirlion steak)
  • 4 tablespoons onion, grated
  • 3 tablespoons green pepper, finely chopped
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons parsley, minced
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1/2 freshly ground black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/8 teaspoon marjoram
  • 1/4 cup flour
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1/2 cup catsup
  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 1/8 teaspoon hot pepper sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 dry mustard
  • 3 tablespoons dry sherry

Instructions

  1. Mix together beef, onion, green pepper, garlic, parsley, salt, black pepper, paprika and marjoram. Form mixture into 6 to 8 steak-shaped patties about 3/4 inch thick. Dip lightly in flour and brush with olive oil.

  2. Arrange on broiling pan. Broil 3 inches from source of heat 5 minutes on each side, or to degree of rareness.

  3. While the meat is broiling, prepare sauce. In saucepan combine catsup, butter, hot pepper sauce, Worcestershire and mustard. Cook until butter melts, then stir in sherry.

  4. Arrange patties on hot platter and pour sauce over them.

I love to eat Salisbury steak, and this sounds like a good recipe that will be popular with the family. When making this, I would use lean ground beef, unsalted butter, and low sodium Worcestershire sauce. I would also omit the hot pepper sauce. Serve this main dish with mashed potatoes and green beans, and you have a complete meal.

This sounds really good, but one what of worcestershire sauce?

Hello myotter, Sorry for the missing ingredient quantity! That's been fixed. It's supposed to be 1 teaspoon of Worcestershire sauce. Thanks for the feedback!
