Easy Peasy Chicken Fried Steak

Only seven ingredients in this basic crispy fried chicken steak recipe! The simple steps will make this a fast way to get dinner ready for the family. Easy Peasy Chicken Fried Steak will be a hit and grown ups alike.

Ingredients
  • 2-4 cube steaks
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 6 tablespoons flour
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 3 to 5 tablespoons olive oil
  • 3/4 cup milk, heated
Instructions
  1. Dredge steak in 4 tablespoons of flour, then in egg, then in flour again.
     
  2. Heat oil in skillet. Once its hot, place steaks in skillet and fry on each side until brown and crisp.
     
  3. Remove from pan and reserve oil and drippings.
     
  4. While drippings are still hot, stir in a 2 tablespoons of flour and make a good roux.
     
  5. Gradually stir in some heated milk with a whisk. Never stop whisking so not to cause lumps.
     
  6. Add milk until you get your consistency desired. If too thick, whisk in more milk slowly is too thin whisk in more flour slowly.
     
  7. Serve steaks covered in gravy.
     
  8. Serve with mashed potatoes.
