Crowd Pleasing Coca Cola Beef Goulash

The flavors in this Crowd Pleasing Coca Cola Beef Goulash are so amazing they'll wow nearly any crowd. Perfect to make if you're cooking for a group, this simple to prepare goulash recipe is one you'll want to keep around and keep handy. With Coca Cola as the "secret" ingredient that lends this goulash its great flavor, the other ingredients act as a powerful supporting cast for this scrumptious beef dinner. Yum!

Cooking Time: 1 hr 15 min

Ingredients
  • 3 pounds lean beef chuck
  • 2 tablespoons margarine
  • 2 cups onions, chopped
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon paprika
  • 2 1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon caraway seeds
  • 1/2 cup Coca Cola
  • 1/4 cup dry red wine
  • 4 ripe tomatoes
  • 3 tablespoons flour
  • hot cooked noodles, for serving
Instructions
  1. Cut beef into 1-inch cubes, discarding bone and fat.
     
  2. In a Dutch oven, melt margarine and add meat, stirring to brown on all sides. Remove meat cubes as they brown.
     
  3. Saute onions and garlic in the drippings until they are soft.
     
  4. Stir in paprika, salt and caraway seeds; cook 1 minute.
     
  5. Stir in meat, Coca-Cola, wine and peeled, cut-up tomatoes.
     
  6. Cover tightly; simmer about 1 1/4 hours or until meat is fork-tender.
     
  7. Blend flour with a little water to make a smooth paste; stir into goulash. Stir and cook 3 to 5 minutes until gravy is thickened.
     
  8. Serve with hot noodles.
