Best Pot Roast Dinner

The Best Pot Roast Dinner is a classic Sunday evening meal. Cooking beef pot roast is so easy with this simple recipe. Fix yourself a heaping plate of pot roast and potatoes just like grandma used to make!

Ingredients
  • 5 pounds pot roast
  • 2 pounds carrots, peeled
  • 8 large potaotes, peeled and halved
  • 1 large onion, quartered
  • 1 teaspoon ground dried sage
  • 1 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon salt
  • 3 stalks celery, chopped (optional)
  • 2 dried bay leaves
  • 3 tablespoons corn starch
  • 3 cups water
Instructions
  1. Pre-heat oven to 350 degrees F.

  2. Place potatoes on the bottom of a greased roasting pan, flat side down to allow browning. Add meat.

  3. Arrange remaining vegetables around the roast in an attractive way. Pour 3 cups of water mixed with the 3 tablespoons cornstarch and spices over the meat and vegetables.

  4. Cover with tight fitting lid or with aluminum foil. Bake for 2 1/2 hours.
